Easy Ham & Cheese Puffs
These Ham & Cheese Puffs are quick to prep, easy to bake, and always a hit at any gathering. Made with just a handful of ingredients, they’re the perfect finger food! They’re crispy on the outside, savory and creamy on the inside and oh-so-tasty. Great for brunch, parties, or potlucks, these bites come together quickly and are always among the first to disappear.

The filling is a creamy mix of ham, Swiss cheese, onion, and Dijon mustard, all baked into a golden crescent dough base. They’re delicious fresh out of the oven and just as good once cooled.

Ingredients
- Deli ham – Use your favorite deli sliced ham. I like Black Forest ham.
- Onion – Sweet onion or regular onion all work well. I wouldn’t use red onion as it discolors when cooked.
- Swiss cheese – Try Jarlsburg cheese if Swiss is too strong for you.
- Egg – Just 1 egg!
- Dijon mustard
- Pepper – You don’t need salt because the ham and cheese are both salty.
- Crescent rolls – Refrigerated. Look for the refrigerated tubes that pop open when you peel the label.

Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a mini muffin tin so the cups release easily after baking.
In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the ham, chopped onion, shredded cheese, egg, mustard, and pepper until evenly combined and well mixed.

Unroll the crescent dough and cut it into 24 equal pieces. Press each piece gently into the muffin tin, shaping it up the sides to form small cups.

Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the ham mixture into each dough cup, filling them without packing too tightly.

Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden and the filling is set in the center.

Let the bites rest in the pan for a few minutes, then carefully lift them out. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Chef Jenn’s Tips
- Use a pizza cutter for clean, even dough cuts.
- The filling can be made ahead and kept in the fridge until you’re ready to assemble.
- Try other cheeses like gruyere or cheddar if you want to change it up.
- Garnish with chopped parsley or a sprinkle of cheese before baking for extra flavor and color.
Make It A Meal
Add these to a brunch board with fruit, salad, or a baked egg dish. They’re also great alongside a warm bowl of soup; try tomato or potato soup.

Storage
Place leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To reheat, use the oven at 325°F or toss them in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes to bring back their crisp texture.
