Ingredients

  • 1 tube crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • edible eyeballs

Instructions

  • Turn on the air fryer to 350°F and let it heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Roll out the crescent dough and tear it along the perforations into triangles.
  • Cut each triangle into long, skinny strips (about 1/4 inch wide) using a knife or pizza cutter.
  • Wrap a hot dog with the dough strips, leaving a little space for the “face.” Wind the dough around until it looks like a proper mummy.
  • Repeat the wrapping process for all remaining hot dogs.
  • Arrange the mummified hot dogs in the air fryer basket, keeping them spaced out so they cook evenly.
  • Cook at 350°F for 5–7 minutes or until the dough is puffed and golden.
  • Lift out the mummy dogs and cool them for a minute or two.
  • Stick the edible eyeballs in the gap where you left it; a touch of mustard or ketchup may be needed to help them stay put.

Chef Jenn’s Tips

  • Keep the dough chilled until slicing for cleaner strips and easier wrapping.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket so the dough browns evenly.
  • Let the mummies cool for a minute before adding eyes so they don’t slide off.
  • Use kitchen tweezers to place the tiny candy eyes cleanly and precisely.
