Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds sirloin beef tips
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 8 ounces mushrooms
  • ¼ cup butter salted
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Maggi sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon beef base
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions
 

  • Season beef sirloin tips with salt and pepper. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high. Grill beef 3–4 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness. Remove and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add chopped onion and sliced mushrooms; sauté until onions are translucent and mushrooms are tender.
  • Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir 1–2 minutes. Gradually whisk in water until smooth.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Maggi sauce, beef base, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer 5 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Return beef tips to the skillet, coat with gravy, and serve hot.

Notes

Tried-and-True Tips

  • Use fresh, high-quality beef for the best flavor. I like sirloin tips because they’re affordable, but you could also use tenderloin, ribeye, or any other tender steak.
  • Don't skip grilling the beef tips; it adds a wonderful smoky flavor.
  • You can grill the meat ahead of time and add it to the sauce to warm it up; just don’t overcook the beef.
