Perfect for game day, potlucks, or backyard hangouts, this beefy Cheeseburger Pie is a hearty and tasty meal. It’s fun, different, and everyone will go back for seconds. And, it’s super easy. If you can brown ground beef, then you can make this dish.
Biscuick is the secret ingredient. It makes this savory pie hearty and filling and it bakes up nice and fluffy. I love serving this with a handful of chips or a fresh salad. Before you know it, dinner is on the table!

Ingredients
- Ground beef – I use lean ground beef. 80/20 is fine, or just drain the fat before adding to the mix.
- Onion – Finely dice the onion and sautee it with the beef so it’s tender and not still crunchy. Or, use a tablespoon of dehydrated onion flakes.
- Cheddar cheese – Sharp cheddar is my go-to for this recipe. But any cheese will work.
- Milk – Any kind of milk will work.
- Salt – I cook with kosher salt. If you use table salt, reduce it by about half.
- Ground black pepper – Freshly ground black pepper, if you have a grinder.
- Garlic powder – Garlic powder, not salt. Garlic salt will make this dish too salty.
- Bisquick – Just regular Bisquick baking mix.
- Large eggs – Or extra large; this recipe isn’t fussy.
- Worcestershire sauce

Set your oven to 400°F. Grease a 9-inch ceramic pie dish with butter or nonstick spray, and place it on a rimmed baking sheet to catch any drips and make it easy to move.
Brown the ground beef and diced onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Use a meat chopper tool to break up the beef quickly as it cooks. Once the meat is no longer pink and the onion is tender, drain the grease and transfer the mixture to a paper towel-lined plate.

Spread the cooked beef and onion evenly into the pie dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar over the top to form a cheesy layer.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, Bisquick, eggs, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until just combined; do not overmix.

Pour the Bisquick mixture over the beef and cheese, then give the dish a gentle shake to level it out.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is firm. A toothpick should come out clean when inserted into the middle.

Let the pie sit for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
Chef Jenn’s Tips
- Cheese swap: Use Monterey Jack or Colby for a milder flavor.
- Add veggies: Stir in chopped mushrooms or spinach with the beef for an easy upgrade.
- Got leftovers? They reheat great in the microwave or oven.
